Sarela Herrada is the co-founder and co-CEO of SIMPLi, the leading maker of regenerative organic pantry staples. On a mission to connect people around the world through the joy of food, SIMPLi offers a suite of Regenerative Organic Certified® products that have been perfected over generations and harvested with care to ensure the highest quality and integrity. Since co-founding SIMPLi in 2020, Sarela has brought over a dozen single-origin, high-quality products to market, including the first Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) ingredients from South America to the US. SIMPLi’s flavorful, nutrient-dense products were designed to make a social and environmental impact and inspired by Sarela’s upbringing and career. 

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, in and around farming communities in the Amazon, Sarela has always had a passion for building resilient and sustainable food systems. She spent her early career in supply chain and food management at Mayorga Organics and Nike, before joining CAVA to lead the supply chain team. 

Sarela sits on the board of directors of the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA), the 501(c)3 organization that oversees the certification process. She recently completed her MBA at the Wharton School of Business. In 2025, Sarela was named a 40 under 40 honoree by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Sarela was also recognized on Inc Magazine’s Female Founder 250 list and by Ernst & Young as an Entrepreneur of the Year, Mid-Atlantic in 2024. Sarela and her husband and co-founder, Matt Cohen live in Philadelphia with their two children.
